About

I’m an Italian photojournalist with a degree in psychology. I worked for many years in a Mental Health Department, primarily focusing on projects aimed at integration and the development of inclusive communities. Photography entered my life when I organized a course for people living with mental health challenges, and I fell in love with it alongside them. After 20 years in the social sector, I transitioned to working as a professional photographer in 2017. I don't see these two professions as separate, but rather as a continuation of one another. People, their stories, and the pursuit of values centered on human rights have always been—and continue to be—my passion.

I specialize in documenting the human condition, exploitation, social change, gender, and immigration. Having worked extensively in the Horn of Africa, I have concentrated on the condition of women from political, social, and cultural perspectives.

My project “Women’s Bodies as Battlefields” won the Camille Lepage Award at Visa Pour l’Image in 2023, the Documentary Photography Zeke Award SDN in 2023, the Circle of Life Award at the International Photojournalism Festival Vilnius in 2023, and first place in the POYi Issue Reporting Stories category (Pictures of the Year International) in 2022. This work was exhibited at the Xposure Festival in Sharjah (UAE) in 2025, Visa Pour l’Image in Perpignan (France), the BarrObjectif Festival in Barro (France), and at the Gare de Lyon Train Station in Paris (France) in 2024, as well as at the Photoville Festival under the Brooklyn Bridge in New York (USA) in 2023, and at the Kawasaki Peace Museum in Kanagawa (Japan) in 2022.

Over the years, I have also documented social issues related to workers’ exploitation. My project "Like Two Wings”, focused on asbestos victims, received an Award of Excellence at the POYi Science and Natural History Picture Story (2016) and First Place at the Umbria Fest (Italy).

My work has been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Aftenposten Innsikt, Days Japan, L'Obs, Internazionale, Mind, Millennium, and L'Espresso.
